The Winedabbler received a press release from Eola Hills Wine Cellars, the fifth largest winery in Oregon, announcing the introduction of Patriot RED.
Patriot RED is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Pinot Noir from three states: Oregon, Washington and California; it is described as a ''smooth, bold, and slightly sweeter'' wine.
RED stands not only for the color of the wine, but is also an acronym for Remember Everyone Deployed; Eola Hills will donate $1.00 for every bottle sold toward care packages for our troops stationed abroad; if they sell the whole production run that will amount to almost $300,000.00, or around 16,000 care packages, each containing $15.00 to $20.00 worth of toiletries and food items.
Patriot RED is available at eolahillswinery.com. Go get some and and drink for a good cause!
Note: You're out of luck if you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont or West Virginia; Eola Hills Wine Cellars does not ship there. Please thank your enlightened politicians.
